Actor Choi Soo Jong will step in to fill the late Lee Soon Jae’s absence at the upcoming '2025 KBS Drama Awards.'
On December 23, KBS confirmed to Dispatch that Choi Soo Jong will serve as a presenter in place of the late actor. “Choi Soo Jong will take on the role of presenter at the '2025 KBS Drama Awards,' replacing the late Lee Soon Jae,” the network stated.
Traditionally, the 'KBS Drama Awards' follow a long-standing custom in which the previous year’s Grand Prize winner presents the award to the next recipient alongside the KBS president. Lee Soon Jae received the Grand Prize last year.
However, Lee Soon Jae passed away in November, making it difficult to uphold the tradition of having the previous winner appear on stage.
According to reports, the production team requested Choi Soo Jong to take on the role. Choi was the Grand Prize winner in 2023 and personally handed the trophy to Lee Soon Jae at last year’s ceremony.
Choi Soo Jong reportedly accepted the offer without hesitation. He will now appear on stage as a Grand Prize presenter for the second consecutive year, honoring the late actor’s legacy while announcing this year’s winner.
The '2025 KBS Drama Awards' will take place on December 31 at 7:10 p.m. at the KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul. The ceremony will be hosted by Jang Sung Kyu, Nam Ji Hyun, and Moon Sang Min
