Expressions of grief and comfort toward the devastating Hong Kong apartment fires continued throughout this week, as YG Entertainment and girl group i-dle aided with contributions toward relief and restoration efforts.
On November 28 KST, YG Entertainment stated via its official Weibo, "Our hearts are heavy over the lives lost and the properties damaged by the recent tragedy in Hong Kong. We express our deepest condolences to the victims, as well as gratitude and respect to those who are on the front lines of the rescue efforts, combating the odds. During these difficult times, YG Entertainment has decided to donate 1,000,000 HKD (~ 130,000 USD) toward emergency relief and restoration efforts. We hope that this small gesture can be a source of warmth and strength so that we can overcome these troubling times together."
Additionally on November 28 KST, China's Fosun Foundation revealed that girl group i-dle has donated 1 million CNY (~ 140,000 USD) to assist residents affected by the Hong Kong Tai Po District apartment fires. Previously, when news of the Hong Kong fires first reached different parts of the globe, i-dle member Yuqi wrote via SNS, "I hope that everyone is safe and sound."
Meanwhile, the '2025 MAMA AWARDS' in Hong Kong will proceed as scheduled from November 29-30 KST at Hong Kong Kai Tak Stadium. However, there will be no red carpet ceremony, and the main event will dedicate much of its script to paying tribute to the lives lost in the fires.
