Actress Seo Ji Hye made a striking impression from the very first week of tvN’s new Monday–Tuesday drama 'Spiteful Love', showcasing her signature elegance and charisma.
In the first two episodes, Seo portrayed Yoon Hwa Young, the youngest department head of the entertainment division at 'Sports Eunsung'. With her poised demeanor and sharp delivery, Seo vividly brought to life a character defined by urban sophistication and icy professionalism.
'Spiteful Love' follows the fierce media battles between a once-beloved national actor who has lost his way and an idealistic entertainment reporter determined to expose the truth.

Seo’s character immediately caught attention with her biting wit, sarcastically remarking, “Is this an action novel?” upon reading a newly transferred reporter’s personnel report. Her cool indifference and laser focus on celebrity news established her as a composed yet formidable leader from the start.

In episode 2, she delivered a powerful line to the passionate but reckless rookie reporter Wi Jung Shin (played by Lim Ji Yeon): “Maybe you were an ace in the politics department, but here, you’re just an amateur.” Seo’s restrained tone and penetrating gaze added nuance and depth to the character, keeping viewers engrossed.
Despite her pragmatic and often cold demeanor, Hwa Young also revealed layers of reason and humanity—calmly managing conflicts, taking responsibility as a leader, and offering sharp yet constructive advice like, “If this were the politics desk, would you still be this emotional and careless?”
Through her detailed and emotionally calibrated performance, Seo Ji Hye seamlessly portrayed Yoon Hwa Young’s duality—charismatic yet compassionate, rational yet empathetic. Her commanding presence in just the first week has set a high bar for what’s to come in 'Spiteful Love'.
