Actor Lee Yi Kyung’s agency announced on the 19th that it will continue to take strong legal action with no leniency against those spreading rumors about his private life.
Sangyeong ENT, Lee Yi Kyung’s agency, stated, “We previously informed you that we have taken legal action against the creator of the posts about Lee Yi Kyung on charges of intimidation and defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act. After recognizing the situation on the 3rd, we promptly filed a complaint and completed the complainant’s statement.”
The agency continued, “We understand that it may take some time for authorities to identify the suspect and conclude the case after a full investigation. While we are checking the progress through our legal representatives, we are cooperating fully to ensure that results come as quickly as possible.”
They added, “The malicious actions of the creator and distributors have caused severe damage to the actor and the company. As such actions are punishable regardless of whether they occur domestically or overseas, we will continue to respond firmly and without leniency, even if it takes time.”
On the same day, A, a German woman who initially claimed to expose Lee Yi Kyung’s alleged private-life scandal, posted on her social media: “I want to say this one last time. I sincerely apologize for the confusion caused by what I uploaded. I said everything was a lie because I was scared.”
She later retracted her apology again, writing, “AI cannot create photos of celebrities, and I have never used AI in that way. All the evidence I posted was real.”
Last month, posts related to Lee Yi Kyung spread widely across online communities and social media, including screenshots of him allegedly exchanging explicit messages with someone over a mobile messenger.
In response, Sangyeong ENT released a statement through its official social media, saying it was preparing legal action against false information and malicious rumors.
A, who previously said she would release additional evidence, also wrote on her account, “As some of you know, I posted various photos related to Lee Yi Kyung. It started as a joke, and I didn’t expect it to gain so much attention. As I continued writing posts and using AI photos, I think I started believing them myself,” and apologized.
