Actor Kim Soo Hyun’s side has released an additional statement regarding the ongoing dispute over the timeline of his alleged relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron.
On November 11 KST, attorney Go Sang Rok, representing Kim Soo Hyun, stated his YouTube channel Jingyeok-ui Gobeon (Korean Legal Titan), saying, “It has been confirmed that attorney Bu Ji-seok recently responded to an interview request from a major terrestrial broadcaster’s investigative program, which began its coverage last week.”
Addressing claims that “the bereaved family has provided new materials to their legal representative that had not been disclosed before,” attorney Go stated, “If materials that were not found in any of the records submitted to the police or the court over the past eight months suddenly appear now, that in itself strongly suggests the possibility of fabrication.” He continued, “If falsified materials or additional private information are distributed, such actions could immediately constitute grounds for arrest.”
Attorney Go went on to refute the opposing party’s assertions one by one, saying, “There are no thousands of photos,” and referring to a photo allegedly taken in late February 2020 showing Kim Soo Hyun and the deceased with their faces close together: “He reportedly said, ‘That photo was made public before I was appointed as the family’s representative, so I have nothing to say about it.’ I’m not sure what that means exactly, but it clearly indicates that he acknowledges it was taken in late February 2020.”
Go further clarified, “The sender name in the June 2016 KakaoTalk message (‘When can I fall asleep in your arms?’) is listed as ‘Unknown.’ The claim that it was sent by Kim Soo Hyun is based solely on the statement of the deceased’s sibling, and the reasoning behind it is so absurd it’s laughable.” He also emphasized, “Kim Soo Hyun never sent any personal emails to the deceased during his military service. Therefore, the claim that the aunt accessed the deceased’s email and confirmed ‘personal messages from his military days’ is entirely unfounded.”
Previously, the late Kim Sae Ron’s family alleged that she was in a relationship with Kim Soo Hyun while she was still a minor, sparking controversy over the actor’s private life. Kim Soo Hyun’s side countered that their relationship began only after she became an adult, and has filed criminal complaints and a civil lawsuit seeking 12 billion KRW (8.2 million USD) in damages against Garo Sero Research Institute (Hoverlab) and the bereaved family.
