Singer and actor Choi Jung Won, formerly a member of the pop duo UN, has been referred to prosecutors on charges of stalking.
The Seoul Jungbu Police Station announced on November 12 that Choi was sent to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office on suspicion of violating the anti-stalking law.
According to police, Choi allegedly went to his ex-girlfriend’s home on August 16, shortly after she ended their relationship, and displayed threatening behavior.
In response, the police applied for an emergency restraining order to prevent Choi from approaching the victim within 100 meters or contacting her by phone or other electronic means. The Seoul Central District Court approved the order two days later, on August 18.
Choi later commented on the allegations, calling the incident “a misunderstanding that arose from a personal dispute with my girlfriend.”
