South Korea’s top “Beauty Avengers” have landed in the heart of Manhattan, bringing the allure of K-Beauty to New Yorkers.
Actors Ra Mi Ran, Park Min Young, Joo Jong Hyuk, hair designer Cha Hong, and beauty creators LeoJ and Pony come together in tvN’s upcoming reality show 'Perfect Glow.'
Set to premiere on November 8 at 10:50 PM, 'Perfect Glow,' directed by Kim Sang Ah and Kwak Ji Hye, follows Korea’s finest hair and makeup professionals as they open a Korean-style beauty salon called DANJANG on 36th Street in Manhattan. The show captures their efforts to introduce the essence of K-Beauty to local clients.
Ahead of the broadcast, a 12-minute highlight video released on October 17 has already increased excitement for the team’s “New York conquest.” Ra Mi Ran, leading DANJANG, impresses with her hands-on leadership, taking on difficult tasks while ensuring customer satisfaction. Park Min Young, serving as the salon’s consultation director, delivers flawless beauty consultations using her fluent English and extensive experience as an actress. One local client even praised her by saying she was “as beautiful as AI,” attracting attention online.
The team managing the “Hair Zone,” Cha Hong and Joo Jong Hyuk, also stand out. Cha Hong, the first L’Oréal Professional Artist in Asia, transforms into the “Compliment Fairy,” winning over clients with ease. Assistant manager Joo Jong Hyuk, called the “Shampoo Guy,” earns praise for his unexpected skill, with Cha Hong saying, “If you had worked in beauty, I would have scouted you,” making him her beloved disciple.
Representing the MZ generation, beauty creators LeoJ and world-class makeup artist Pony dominate the salon with their professional expertise. LeoJ brings lively energy that energizes the space, while Pony impresses with precise and standout makeup touches. Their collaborative transformations are expected to be a highlight unique to 'Perfect Glow.'
The process is not without challenges. In a tense moment while racing against time, Pony exclaims, “This is chaos,” hinting at the unpredictable situations the team will face.
New Yorkers who experienced DANJANG’s K-Beauty services responded with great enthusiasm. Clients shared reviews such as, “I feel reborn,” and, “If you don’t love yourself, inner insecurity remains. K-Beauty brings out inner beauty.” The cast’s emotional reactions to these stories show the sincerity and deeper value of K-Beauty beyond technical skill.
The production team stated, “Following K-Pop and K-Food, K-Beauty is now gaining attention. Viewers can look forward to a magical experience created by K-Beauty masters who combine skill and authenticity.”
