Lee Hyori drew strong notices as MC of Coupang Play’s new beauty survival 'Just Makeup', with Episodes 1–3 released on October 3. Greeted by 60 contestants with loud cheers—“a top star everyone wants to work with at least once,” “the dream of people who do makeup”—Lee Hyori showed why she remains a cross-category icon in beauty and fashion.
Taking on a survival-show MC role for the first time in 16 years since debut, Lee Hyori kept a measured tension while creating room for contestants to showcase their skills. Echoing her remarks at the press presentation—“If I used to be in the spotlight, I hope the people working hard behind the scenes can be the ones in the light now”—she consistently steered attention back to each artist’s work.

Her on-site cues balanced warmth and pace. Seeing nerves before the opening mission, she told participants, “Good luck,” easing the room. When one contestant guessed the second mission might be a ten-minute challenge, she quipped, “We could even put in ‘Just Ten-Minute Makeup’ next time,” keeping the atmosphere light.
'Just Makeup' brings together top makeup artists representing K-beauty in a large-scale format where personal style meets head-to-head competition. New episodes stream every Friday at 8:00 p.m. (KST) on Coupang Play.
