KBS2’s upcoming drama 'Last Summer' has released a highlight video that’s capturing the attention of prospective viewers.
Set to premiere on November 1, the new KBS2 weekend mini-series 'Last Summer' (written by Jeon Yu Ri, directed by Min Yeon Hong) tells the story of a childhood friendship between a man and a woman who uncover the hidden truths of their first love, unfolding into a heartwarming “remodeling romance” drama.
The released highlight video features the daily life of Baek Do Ha (played by Lee Jae Wook) and Song Ha Kyung (played by Choi Sung Eun), oscillating between flirtation and conflict. The story begins in the summer when they were 12, in a “peanut house,” where their intense first meeting sets the stage. Ha Kyung throws a pencil at Do Ha and splashes ketchup at the dining table, revealing her bold personality. Over the next 15 years, the two engage in 99 “wars” and 99 “peace treaties,” creating a sweet-but-spicy dynamic.
The tone shifts with Do Ha’s narration: “Back then, I didn’t know this war between us would last so long.” In a tense scene, Ha Kyung, dressed in mourning clothes, lashes out at Do Ha, telling him never to see her again. Years later, when Ha Kyung reunites with Do Ha and remarks, “It seems my summer is doomed again this year,” viewers are left curious about the changes in their relationship.

Conflict escalates when Ha Kyung plans to sell the peanut house, and Do Ha claims ownership. Their fight ultimately leads to a lawsuit, with Ha Kyung sharply telling Do Ha not to force memories of the past on her. The tension deepens when it’s revealed that Ha Kyung’s anger stems from Do Ha’s twin brother, Baek Do Young (also played by Lee Jae Wook), who spent childhood summers with her.
Do Ha continues his chaotic cohabitation with Ha Kyung while she avoids him due to past entanglements. Meanwhile, Do Ha’s lawyer, Seo Soo Hyuk (played by Kim Gun Woo), begins taking an interest in Ha Kyung and eventually confesses, “Let’s try dating,” setting up a love triangle between Do Ha, Ha Kyung, and Soo Hyuk.
In response to Soo Hyuk’s confession, Do Ha goes all in on pursuing Ha Kyung. Whether his summer-long affection will win her heart raises anticipation for the upcoming episodes.
Last Summer promises not only the playful, bickering chemistry between Do Ha and Ha Kyung but also complex new dynamics with Soo Hyuk, heightening viewer curiosity. The combined talents of Lee Jae Wook, Choi Sung Eun, and Kim Gun Woo further add excitement to this ensemble performance.
The new KBS2 weekend mini-series 'Last Summer' premieres on November 1 at 9:20 PM.
