Kim Soo Hyun's lawyer Ko Sang Rok of Law Firm Phil has released additional remarks to refute the claims that the actor dated the late actress Kim Sae Ron during his mandatory military service hiatus.
Previously, Ko Sang Rok published what were claimed to be scanned pages of Kim Soo Hyun's diary during his military service. The lawyer then claimed that Kim Soo Hyun in fact dated another girlfriend, not Kim Sae Ron, during his military service. The diary entries supposedly attested to this fact, as Kim Soo Hyun frequently mentioned his girlfriend and made plans to spend his vacations with her. Furthermore, according to the lawyer, the letter that Kim Soo Hyun sent to the late Kim Sae Ron was one of many that he sent to his close friends during that time, and therefore did not serve as proof of any romantic relationship between the two.
Following the above claims, Ko Sang Rok went on to address the fact that Kim Sae Ron visited Kim Soo Hyun at his family home some time during Kim Soo Hyun's military service. The lawyer began, "This house, purchased by Kim Soo Hyun, is a home that he shares with his older brother, the president of Gold Medalist. Kim Soo Hyun's older brother has been a reliable partner and mentor to Kim Soo Hyun since the early stages of the actor's career. He had a good eye for projects and helped Kim Soo Hyun choose some of his best known productions, including 'The Moon Embracing the Sun', 'My Love from the Star', 'The Thieves', and more. Naturally, many colleagues in the drama and film industry sought his advice as well, including Kim Soo Hyun's closest acquaintances. Kim Sae Ron was among these acquaintances who went on to become well acquainted with Kim Soo Hyun's brother."
Ko then continued, "The late Kim Sae Ron happened to visit Kim Soo Hyun during an extended, 4-day vacation from his mandatory post. Kim Sae Ron visited Kim Soo Hyun's house when Kim Soo Hyun's brother was also present. The visit also happened by chance, it was not planned beforehand. When Kim Sae Ron visited, Kim Soo Hyun's brother happened to be practicing yoga in the living room. He spoke with Kim Sae Ron for about 30 minutes."
The lawyer additionally claimed, "Many celebrities, especially Kim Soo Hyun, exercise caution when it comes to activities in public. Thus, it is more common for celebrities to meet with their friends and acquaintances at home, rather than arrange a meeting in public, such as in a restaurant or a cafe. In fact, many of Kim Soo Hyun's friends, including celebrities and non-celebrities, have visited the home shared by Kim Soo Hyun and his brother, having meals, watching TV, exercising, singing karaoke, etc. There is adequate evidence of this in private videos, which cannot be disclosed."
Finally, Kim Soo Hyun's lawyer stressed, "As stated above, the damage that Kim Soo Hyun has suffered as a result of these incidents amounts to a severe case of cyber bullying," and "Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron were nothing more than colleagues during his mandatory military service period. No romantic feelings were involved."
