On October 22, BLACKPINK's Jisoo sat down with Vanity Fair for a unique experience of delving into candid questions while creating a sculpture of herself.
In the latest video uploaded on Vanity Fair's official YouTube channel, Jisoo, who recently released a new single "Eyes Closed" with Zayn, spoke about various aspects of her life as a K-pop idol and as an individual.
Ahead of answering questions, Jisoo revealed, "Today I want to make something that symbolizes me. I think it'll be too difficult to try and make my face, and my nickname is Turtle Rabbit Kim. So, I'm going to make a turtle rabbit today."
Jisoo then elaborated, "Turtle Rabbit Kim came about when we were in Turtle Bay, Hawaii, with the members. Because the other members spent time overseas, they all had middle names, and I didn't have one. So I kind of just said I'm Rabbit, Rabbit Kim. Then I added Turtle because I wanted to make my name longer." She added, "And since rabbit and turtle seemed like opposites, I thought it would be fun to have them together."
The global K-pop idol also talked about her true personality and explained, "Honestly, my real self and my onscreen self are very similar. I'm surprisingly shy around others. Sometimes in really awkward situations, I tend to shrink. I grow very quiet and small." She continued, "So sometimes when you see me on TV, I'll just be like 'ahahaha' very shyly."
In comparison to her previous interviews with other media outlets, Jisoo delved deeper into her personality and revealed more details about her character. She explained she tends to prefer to be by herself and said, "I think I'm busier when I'm alone, compared to when I'm talking with other people. I would ask and answer things in my own head. When I'm talking to other people, I would run out of things to say and go quiet, or we'd just be on our phones on our own. But if I'm on my own, I get really busy. I think to myself, 'Should I try this? Or should I watch that?' I feel like I'm more alive when I'm alone."
