Incheon District Court sentenced 32-year-old actress A to two years in prison on October 16 for violating the Narcotics Control Act and obstructing official duties. The court also ordered her to complete a 120-hour drug rehabilitation program.
Presiding Judge Moon Jong Chul of Criminal Division 7 noted, “Despite the arrest warrant being dismissed after her initial detention, she continued to purchase and use drugs. Her symptoms of drug addiction are severe, and the risk of recidivism is high. However, she has shown remorse and deposited a settlement with the injured police officer, which has been considered in her sentencing.”
A was charged with purchasing 20 grams of ketamine six times and spending 9.78 million KRW (about 7,000 USD) between March 2 and May 22. She had previously received a 5 million KRW (about 3,530 USD) fine in March for drug use and possession but committed the same offense again, leading to her arrest. Reports indicate that she was arrested once more as a flagrante delicto on the same day she was released following an investigation.
In addition, A faced charges for assaulting police officer B on April 22. When executing an arrest and search warrant, she refused to hand over her phone, pulled B’s arm, tearing the sleeve of his shirt, scratched his neck with her nails, and grabbed and shook his collar, breaking his necklace. These actions constituted obstruction of official duties.
