YooA of K-pop girl group OH MY GIRL stepped onto the red carpet at the 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) with her acting debut film 'Project Y'.
Directed by Lee Hwan, Project Y follows the gripping story of Mi-seon (played by Han So Hee) and Do-kyung (played by Jeon Jong Seo)—two women who have nothing but each other. Desperate to escape their harsh realities, they attempt to steal hidden black money and gold bars, triggering a high-stakes spiral of events. The film has been officially invited to the Korean Cinema Today – Special Premiere section of BIFF, drawing attention as one of this year’s most anticipated titles. Tickets for all screenings sold out immediately upon release.
YooA attended the film’s premiere events including the red carpet, open talk session, and guest visit (GV) alongside director Lee Hwan and co-stars Han So Hee and Jeon Jong Seo.
During the open talk session, YooA shared,
“I thought my role as Ha-gyeong might offer a refreshing sense of betrayal to those familiar with my previous image. It felt like the perfect starting point for my journey as an actress.”
She added with conviction,
“One of my small goals is to leave audiences genuinely shocked. I sincerely hope this film becomes the moment where people begin to recognize me as ‘actress YooA.’”
At the GV, she expressed her gratitude by saying,
“It was such a joy to work with amazing actors, producers, and staff. Seeing the audience so immersed and focused throughout the screening made me truly thankful.”
YooA debuted in 2015 as a member of OH MY GIRL and has since received wide love both as part of the group and as a solo artist. In June, she signed an exclusive contract with Saram Entertainment, signaling a full-fledged pivot toward acting.
In Project Y, YooA plays a pivotal role in the film’s narrative—a performance that many anticipate will redefine her career.
Project Y is set to hit theaters in South Korea later this year.
