Global entertainment powerhouse HYBE (Chairman Bang Si Hyuk) has officially launched its Indian subsidiary, marking its fifth overseas headquarters after HYBE Japan, HYBE America, HYBE Latin America, and HYBE China.
According to HYBE on September 23 KSt, the new branch, HYBE INDIA ENTERTAINMENT PRIVATE LIMITED, has completed its incorporation in Mumbai, the cultural and entertainment hub of India. Mumbai, known for its Bollywood film industry, contemporary art scene, and diverse performing arts, has emerged as a strategic base for global content companies eyeing South Asia’s booming entertainment market.
The newly launched HYBE India sets its mission as:
“Where voices of India become global stories.”
With this vision, HYBE aims to discover and nurture talented local artists through regional auditions and a training system tailored to the Indian market. The company also plans to actively support the local activities of existing HYBE Music Group artists in India.
India—home to 1.46 billion people—represents the world’s largest country by population and is quickly becoming one of the biggest music markets globally. According to the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), the country boasts approximately 185 million streaming users, ranking second only to the United States.
K-pop’s influence in India has also seen a significant rise. A report by the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange revealed that K-pop music streaming in India surged by 362% between 2018 and 2023. Experts attribute this growth to the proliferation of smartphones, increased internet penetration, and the expanding accessibility of global streaming platforms.
The launch of HYBE India is a major move under Chairman Bang Si Hyuk’s “Multi-home, Multi-genre” strategy, which seeks to localize HYBE’s production system in diverse regions and genres to cultivate world-class artists with regional authenticity. By leveraging HYBE’s full-stack capabilities—including artist training, music production, management, marketing, and concert planning—HYBE India plans to bridge the local and global markets through uniquely Indian talents.
