SOOP broadcast streamer BJ Se Yeon revealed that the Bang Si Hyuk scandal cost her far more than just her privacy.
In an interview published April 3rd on the YouTube channel Beautiful Nerd, titled 'An underground female streamer, BJ Se Yeon, who crashed HYBE stock and pulled in 3 billion KRW (2.3 million USD) with the Zero Two dance,' she recounted how she ended up in the viral footage, how netizens pieced it together, and how those around her reacted once the story went viral.

“A netizen noticed me in a street YouTube video filmed overseas, which coincidentally matched a photo I posted that same day wearing the same outfit,” she explained. That single detail triggered nationwide attention. The footage, originally captured by the U.S. channel I am WalKing, showed Bang Si Hyuk walking through Beverly Hills with Se Yeon and another streamer, sparking intense online backlash.
Se Yeon also described the sudden shift in celebrity interactions. “A famous rapper who had been messaging me deleted all our DMs once the article about Chairman Bang came out,” she said. She noted that a well-known actor unfollowed her account while a top soccer player had been quietly viewing her Instagram Stories. Her experience illustrates how quickly public figures manage associations and reputations when a scandal emerges.
Addressing HYBE’s explanation, Se Yeon said the encounter with Bang Si Hyuk was not coincidental. The chairman had offered to secure a table at a notoriously difficult-to-book restaurant, and accompanying him was part of that arrangement.
She was candid about her income, revealing that her peak annual earnings as a broadcaster reached 3 billion KRW (2.3 million USD), with one birthday alone bringing in 100 million KRW (76,500 USD) from virtual gifts.
In a lighter moment, Se Yeon commented on the minor stir caused when Jeong Seung Je, a prominent math tutor, liked one of her dance videos. Unfazed, she said, “It could have been an accidental tap. People are allowed to watch.”
