Go Hyun Jung praised for saving young co-star from ocean accident during filming.
Actress Go Hyun Jung has once again touched hearts with her heroic and compassionate actions on set—this time by saving a young child actor during a dangerous moment while filming.
On September 7th KST, the mother of six-year-old child actor Jo Se Woong shared a heartfelt story via social media, calling Go Hyun Jung “my son Se Woong’s lifesaver.” Along with the post, she uploaded a video showing Go Hyun Jung and Se Woong sitting side by side on a beach, chatting affectionately.
The mother explained that the incident occurred last year on a remote island in Shinan during the filming of the SBS drama ‘Queen Mantis’. “Se Woong got overly excited after seeing the ocean and suddenly ran toward the water. The waves, which had been calm, surged unexpectedly and were about to sweep him away,” she recalled.
“In that moment, actress Go Hyun Jung dashed over like lightning, scooped him up, and held him tightly,” she continued. “Even though her costume got completely soaked, she threw herself into the situation to save my son. I was so shocked that I froze on the spot. I don’t know how to properly express my gratitude.”
After the incident, Go Hyun Jung reportedly continued to care for Se Woong, playing with him and making sure he felt safe and loved. “She was like a real angel,” the mother added. “For a while, Se Woong kept calling her ‘mom’ and missed her dearly.”
This is not the first time Go Hyun Jung has been recognized for her kindness. In February, the production team of ‘Queen Mantis’ revealed that she gifted thermal clothing to all staff members ahead of the final shoot, showcasing her appreciation for the crew. It was also said that she frequently rang the “golden bell” at convenience store filming locations to help boost their sales.
‘Queen Mantis’ is an SBS Friday–Saturday crime thriller in which Go Hyun Jung plays a charismatic serial killer, Jung Yi Shin, who targets child and domestic abusers. She stars alongside Jang Dong Yoon, who plays detective Cha Soo Yeol, her son in the drama. Jo Se Woong portrays the younger version of Cha Soo Yeol, capturing viewers’ attention with his emotional performance.
