Cha Hyun Seung, known for his work as a dancer with singer Sunmi, has opened up about his battle with leukemia.
On September 27, Cha Hyun Seung shared on his personal social media, “In early June, I was rushed to the emergency room, and my life stopped in an instant. Until then, I had been pursuing my dreams, passing the final auditions for the projects I wanted to be part of, but the diagnosis of ‘leukemia’ brought everything to a halt.”
He continued, “At first, I could hardly accept it myself and couldn’t tell anyone. Fear and confusion filled my days. Now, after some time has passed, I feel ready to speak honestly. I am currently undergoing treatment and quietly fighting every day.” Cha Hyun Seung also expressed his determination to return to acting once he regains his health: “The road ahead is long, but I will overcome this. My dreams and passion are still alive, and I am holding on, eagerly waiting for the day I can stand on stage and in front of the camera again.”
Cha Hyun Seung gained recognition as a model and dancer for Sunmi, having worked closely with her since her first solo activities. Notably, he drew international attention during Sunmi’s 2018 ‘Waterbomb’ performance, and later appeared on Netflix’s dating show 'Single’s Inferno' Season 1 in 2021.
He continued to showcase his talents through appearances on Mnet’s dance survival program 'Be Mbitious' in 2022 and Netflix’s 'Physical: 100' in 2023. In January of last year, he retired from dancing to pursue acting, embarking on the second chapter of his life.
