A, the initial whistleblower who accused actress Song Ha Yoon of school violence, has returned to South Korea and expressed disbelief at Song Ha Yoon’s change in attitude over the past year.
On August 30, the YouTube channel Entertainment President Lee Jin Ho released an episode titled 'Whistleblower Testimony Part 1: Song Ha Yoon’s School Violence Allegations.'
When asked about her life since the April 2024 revelation, A said, "I thought I would not respond anymore and returned to a peaceful daily life. But in March this year, I was contacted by the police saying that Song Ha Yoon had filed a lawsuit against me. I was shocked. The perpetrator is suing the victim. Something is clearly wrong. Another victim told me, 'Song Ha Yoon is shameless.' People around us say, 'She has always been like that, so it is not surprising.'"
Song Ha Yoon has claimed that her forced school transfer was unrelated to school violence. A strongly refuted this, stating, "Is there any other reason for a forced transfer? I do not think so. It was definitely because of a school violence incident. In the first or second lawsuit, they claimed I voluntarily transferred to Gujeong High School for active entertainment activities. But both schools are in the same district and only a short drive apart. The education office would not accept that reason. There was a confirmed disciplinary action, and everyone in the school knew about it."
A added, "I clearly remember it was during the summer uniform period. I had just been beaten when I heard that Song Ha Yoon transferred to Gujeong High School. I was assaulted, and I can definitely confirm the situation and who was involved."
Addressing why she did not report the incident to the school, A said, "It was a different era. Even if there was school violence, they told you to shake hands and reconcile. For the school violence committee to act, it had to involve peers. If a senior hit a junior, they would just give a warning. Reporting it would not have changed anything. Song Ha Yoon’s boyfriend was a close friend of mine, which made things awkward. I had to continue attending school and could not avoid seeing them."
Explaining her reason for returning to Korea, A stated, "I came because I feared Song Ha Yoon might target my friends or those who helped me. If I did not come, the investigation would not resume. I wanted to prevent the perpetrator from harming the whistleblower and witnesses further and make a positive impact through the system."
Song Ha Yoon’s side had announced on August 23 that they would cover all expenses including airfare, hotel, and transportation for A, who currently resides in the United States, to return for the investigation.
A commented, "Initially, they said they would support about 2.5 million KRW (approximately $1,799.89). I thought, 'If they support it, I will take a vacation and go.' But when I asked for details, there were disagreements, even about the airfare. The final amount mentioned was around 1.3 to 1.4 million KRW (about $934.70 to $1,006.6). So I decided not to accept it, yet the media reported it as full support. It was ridiculous."
A further criticized Song Ha Yoon’s shifting statements. "Last year, she admitted there was school violence but denied assault. This year, she says there was no school violence, no assault, and no forced transfer. I do not know what she has been preparing over the past year. I really do not understand."
She is reportedly considering filing a false accusation lawsuit after the case concludes. A originally revealed Song Ha Yoon’s alleged school violence 20 years ago through JTBC’s 'Crime Chief' in 2024. Song Ha Yoon’s agency denied all allegations, but the controversy continued, leading to the expiration of her contract with her former agency and a temporary hiatus from her entertainment activities.
Song Ha Yoon’s legal team later filed criminal charges against A in July 2025, claiming the allegations were false. On August 19, Xports News reported that Song Ha Yoon had additionally filed charges against A for defamation, obstruction of business by deception, and threats.
A has also revealed that she is preparing to seek damages totaling 10 billion KRW (approximately $7.7 million), for direct and indirect harm. This includes emotional distress, international defamation, procedural damages from false accusations, infringement on social survival rights, suppression of the public dissemination of truth, practical costs as an overseas resident, prevention of secondary harm by the perpetrator, and symbolic significance for preventing similar cases.
