On the July 5 episode of MBC’s 'Hangout With Yoo,' veteran entertainer Yoo Jae Suk made a surprising confession: he has never watched the final episode of his legendary variety show 'Infinite Challenge.'
The episode followed the cast as they worked to sell figurine merchandise modeled after fellow member HaHa. During the planning, HaHa suggested going to Yeouido, targeting fans who grew up watching 'Infinite Challenge.' He said, "We need to go after the 'Infinite Challenge' kids,' the generation that was obsessed with 'Infinite Challenge' figurines."
Yoo Jae Suk responded, "If they were in high school around 2005 or 2006, they would be in their mid to late 30s now."
Actor Lee Yi Kyung shared his personal attachment to the show. He said, "My wish when I was in the military was that Infinite Challenge wouldn’t end until I was discharged. I loved it so much and watched every single episode."
Yoo then remarked, "The funny thing is, fans often rewatch the entire series multiple times, but not all of us cast members have seen every episode."
Haha asked, "You still haven’t seen the final episode, have you?" Yoo replied, "It’s not that I couldn’t. I think I chose not to. I didn’t really want to watch it."
He added, "As I’ve always said, the idea of a final episode brings a sense of sudden ending and regret. It’s not about wanting to go out with a bang, but I just didn’t feel like that was the real final episode."
HaHa agreed and said, "There’s still some sadness. None of us wanted it to end that way."
Yoo continued, "It needed a proper send-off. I would call it more of a closing chapter than a final episode."
Comedian Joo Woo Jae asked, "What did you do on Thursdays after 'Infinite Challenge' ended? That used to be your recording day."
Haha laughed and said, "I used to call the other members. I would say, 'What are you doing, brother?' and Jae Suk would say, 'Hey, hang up. I’m lying down.' I told him, 'It feels strange, brother. It’s Thursday.'"
