The production of the highly anticipated drama 'Inside Men' has been delayed, and lead actor Song Kang Ho is set to leave the project.
On July 11, a drama industry insider told MyDaily that filming for 'Inside Men' was originally scheduled to begin but was recently postponed by the production team. The insider added that the cast was informed of a two to three-month reorganization period. Until the production team resumes contact, the project is currently on hold, and the situation is being monitored.
Song Kang Ho, who was cast in the lead role of Lee Kang Hee, a character originally played by Baek Yoon Shik in the film version, has ultimately decided to step down. The production team is now searching for a new actor to fill the role.
According to a statement from production company Hive Media Corp, 'Inside Men' was initially planned as a two-season series but is now being reorganized into a single 12-episode season. The revised format has led to an extended filming schedule, which conflicted with Song Kang Ho’s upcoming projects, resulting in his departure.
'Inside Men' is a political thriller that weaves together major events and figures from the 1980s and 1990s. The confirmed cast includes Lee Sung Min, Koo Kyo Hwan, Soo Ae, Lee Moo Saeng, Shin Seung Ho, and Bona (Kim Ji Yeon).
The drama will be directed by Mo Wan Il, known for 'Misty' and 'The World of the Married,' with a script by Lee Ki Cheol, the writer of 'The Thieves,' 'Assassination,' and 'Escape from Mogadishu.' Produced by Hive Media Corp, the series is currently in pre-production with filming expected to begin later this year.
