Shinji of Koyote opened up about recent emotional struggles that led to unexpected weight loss, during the July 26 broadcast of MBC’s'Omniscient Interfering View'. The episode featured both Koyote and rising co-ed group ALLDAY Project as part of a special feature on mixed-gender idol groups.
The show highlighted behind-the-scenes footage of Koyote’s latest music video shoot and a successful performance at a water park event. Despite the upbeat mood, Shinji surprised viewers during a casual mealtime conversation when she said, “I didn’t diet. I lost weight because of stress.” Her bandmate Kim Jong Min jokingly replied, “That’s the best kind of diet!” while Baekga calmly added, “Eat up,” subtly diffusing the moment with his signature level-headedness.
Earlier in the broadcast, Shinji showed particular affection toward Tarzzan and Annie from ALLDAY Project. Born in 2002, the two rookies impressed her with their respectful attitude and familiarity with Koyote’s music. Annie said, “Of course I know Koyote. I lived in Korea through elementary school, and you're the ultimate co-ed senior group.” Tarzzan even sang one of Koyote’s hit songs on the spot, showing his admiration.
When asked about the pros and cons of being in a co-ed group, Baekga jokingly said, “We have someone to keep things in order — Shin Ji does all the organizing.” Kim Jong Min added that Shinji’s image as a strict “disciplinarian” stemmed from his own teasing: “I used to tell people, ‘I’ll tell Shin Ji on you.’ That’s how the rumors started.” They also recalled a time when NS Yoon-G once burst into tears, mistakenly thinking she had offended Shinji, all because of one of Kim Jong Min’s pranks.
The episode also showed Koyote preparing their retro-themed comeback. Shinji, despite her personal stress, threw herself into filming with her usual professionalism and energy. In one scene, she smiled wistfully when asked about current news, saying, “I stopped reading the news because I saw too much about myself.” Baekga offered quiet reassurance: “I stopped reading too when your name kept showing up. It’s okay now.”
As Shinji gets ready to tie the knot with musical actor Moon Won, fans were moved by her openness, work ethic, and dedication to Koyote’s comeback. Even while navigating emotional hardships, Shinji’s passion for performing remains unwavering — a testament to her decades-long presence in the K-pop scene.
