OH MY GIRL’s Arin has revealed her growing passion and commitment as an “acting idol.”
In an interview held on July 28 at Yeouido Post Tower in Seoul following the conclusion of the Wavve original drama 'S-Line', Arin shared her thoughts on the project:
“It was such a great and fun project, so I do feel a bit sad that it ended with just six episodes. I wish we could have explored the story more, but I gave it my all. I think it turned out to be an enjoyable show. I haven’t heard anything about a second season yet, but I’m hopeful.”

'S-Line' is a fantasy thriller based on a webtoon by kkomaebi, the author of 'A Killer Paradox'. The drama follows the story of a mysterious red line—called the "S-Line"—that appears between people who have had sexual relations, revealing forbidden desires and hidden truths. The series, which recently concluded with all six episodes released on July 25, was also recognized at the 8th Cannes International Series Festival in 2025.
When asked if she had read the original webtoon, Arin replied, “The director gave me a printed version, and I also read it online before filming.” She admitted to some initial concerns:
“Since it was a different genre from the roles I’ve done before, I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off naturally. I was worried about how to express it authentically.”
Arin also revealed that she didn’t know the ending when she first joined the project.
“I only saw the early part of the script when I first received it, but it was so interesting that I wanted to take on the challenge. As the story progressed, the fantasy elements became more prominent, and since none of us knew the ending, it felt like we were building the story together—which made it even more fun.”
Regarding her romantic scenes with Junseon (played by Lee Kwang Hee), Arin commented,
“I believe those scenes were necessary for the story. We filmed them in a way that matched the flow of the plot, staying within appropriate boundaries. The director was very considerate, and we discussed everything together to find a balance between Hyunheup and Junseon’s dynamics. It was a bit of a challenge, but I think it came across naturally in the context of the story.”
Arin played Hyunheup, a girl with the ability to see the S-Line. Isolated from the world, Hyunheup begins to grow and reconnect with society after discovering the potential of her gift.

In portraying this character, Arin stepped away from her usual bright and bubbly image. Sporting a short haircut and roughened skin, she presented a completely different side of herself. Her controlled expressions and subdued tone effectively conveyed Hyunheup’s complex emotional state—marked by anxiety, curiosity, and caution—adding tension to the drama.
“It felt unfamiliar at first to portray a quieter, more subdued version of myself,” Arin said. “But I realized it’s okay to express things more softly, and I discovered a new charm in being natural and comfortable. Playing Hyunheup allowed me to see sides of myself I hadn’t seen before.”
Speaking about her physical transformation, she explained,
“The director had a strong vision for Hyunheup’s appearance. He suggested a short haircut, and I agreed—it felt like a great opportunity to try something new. We went for a rough, self-cut look rather than something polished. Since Hyunheup is a reclusive character, we tried to make my skin look pale and untreated, like someone who doesn’t take care of their appearance. I even left my eyebrows untrimmed. Balancing this look while continuing activities with OH MY GIRL made it even more fun.”
How did fans react to this drastic change?
“Since many fans know me as the youngest member of OH MY GIRL, they were shocked at first,” she said with a smile. “But I think they’re gradually embracing it. One comment that stuck with me was, ‘I had no idea Hyunheup was Arin.’ That meant a lot—it made me feel like I was able to blend into the role naturally.”
She continued, "'S-Line' was a project where I let go of a lot and discovered a new version of myself. It sparked my desire to take on more genre-based roles. I’ve definitely developed a deeper appreciation for genre dramas.”
Arin also shared how her fellow OH MY GIRL members reacted:
“They were very understanding during filming. Since I was so focused on the role, there were times I was quieter than usual and even carried some of Hyunheup’s mood into daily life. But the members recognized that and supported me. After the show aired, they said things like, ‘This style is so cool’ and ‘I didn’t know Arin could be like this.’ Seeing a new side of me surprised them, and I think they found it refreshing. My family also watched it and said Hyunheup didn’t feel out of place at all. Since I actually enjoy spending time alone at home, they thought the role felt very natural.”
She named Kim Hye Soo and Hwang Jung Min as her role models and emphasized,
“I’m open to anything for the sake of acting. I’m not afraid of changing my appearance. If a role requires it, I’m even willing to shave my head.”
