Netflix has officially announced the production of a new original series titled 'Variety', along with the casting of Son Ye Jin and Jo Yu Ri in leading roles.
'Variety' follows the entangled ambitions of Sae Eun, the head of South Korea’s top entertainment agency who created the country’s most successful idol group, and Seung Hee, an obsessive fan who relentlessly follows them. The story unfolds through a series of intense and unpredictable events, shedding light on the desires of everyone involved. The series is the latest work by director and writer Kim Yong Hoon, known for Netflix’s 'Mask Girl' and the film 'Beasts Clawing at Straws'.

Son Ye Jin will portray Sae Eun, an irreplaceable character whose sharp charisma and emotional depth drive the drama. Sae Eun is a brilliant planner who does not hesitate to make ruthless decisions to achieve her goals. In a desperate bid to re-sign the idol group she raised herself, she puts everything on the line.
Renowned for completely immersing herself in each role, Son Ye Jin is expected to portray a wide emotional spectrum—from Sae Eun’s ambitious and glamorous presence to the intense emotions that emerge in unexpected situations.

Jo Yu Ri, who left a strong impression with her acting in 'Squid Game' Seasons 2 and 3, will take on the role of Seung Hee, an overzealous fan who stops at nothing to get close to her favorite idol. She tracks the idol's every move, showing extreme obsession and twisted admiration. Having already displayed a fresh and compelling screen presence, Jo Yu Ri raises curiosity about how she will express Seung Hee’s intense love-hate dynamics.

Surrounding Son Ye Jin and Jo Yu Ri is a strong supporting cast made up of veteran and emerging actors, adding to anticipation for the ensemble's performance in what promises to be a truly 'variety'-filled experience.
'Variety', featuring Son Ye Jin and Jo Yu Ri, will be released exclusively on Netflix, drawing attention from viewers around the globe.
