MJ and JinJin of ASTRO are set to debut as a brand-new unit duo, 'ZOONIZINI', on August 13th KST.
At midnight on July 29th KST, their agency Fantagio officially confirmed the release of the duo’s first mini album, 'DICE', through a “coming soon” teaser video posted on their official social media channels.
The teaser captured attention with dynamic typography highlighting the unit’s name “ZOONIZINI,” the album format “1st MINI ALBUM,” the album title DICE, and the release date “2025. 08. 13.” The unit name, formed by combining MJ (Kim Myung Joon) and JinJin (Park Jin Woo)’s nicknames, paired with the title 'DICE', hints at a unique and exciting musical synergy to come.
As ASTRO’s main vocalist and leader/main rapper respectively, MJ and JinJin are embarking on a new musical journey. Outside of group activities, MJ released his solo debut Happy Virus in 2021 and has contributed to various OSTs and collaborative projects, showcasing his distinctive and charming vocal color. JinJin, meanwhile, launched his self-produced project JIN LAB, releasing high-quality original tracks and proving his abilities as both an artist and producer through his extensive involvement in ASTRO’s discography.
Both artists have also built careers in musical theater. MJ has appeared in productions like Jamie, Winterreise, Jack the Ripper, and Zorro: Actor-Musician, while JinJin has earned praise for roles in Winterreise, Dream High (original and revival), and Crash Landing on You.
Celebrating their 9th debut anniversary this year, the duo released the special single Twilight—written and composed by JinJin—and successfully completed their first solo concerts in Korea and Japan in three years with 'The 4th ASTROAD [Stargraphy]'.
Now, all eyes are on what new colors and creativity MJ and JinJin will unveil as ZOONIZINI, a unit aiming to dominate the summer music scene.
DICE, the first mini album from ZOONIZINI, will be released on August 13th at 6 PM KST via all major online music platforms.
