IU has been officially appointed as the new promotional ambassador for the Incheon Airport Main Customs Office, stepping into the role following the conclusion of NewJeans’ term.
On July 25, IU attended the ambassador appointment ceremony held at Terminal 1 of Incheon International Airport. The event was attended by the head of customs, staff members, and representatives from related agencies.
The Incheon Airport Main Customs Office shared the reason behind IU’s appointment, stating, “IU has earned widespread admiration through both her music and acting. Her consistent acts of generosity and goodwill have fostered deep connections with the public.”
They added, “Customs plays a crucial role in preventing the illegal importation of firearms, drugs, and hazardous food products. IU’s image, built on empathy and trust, aligns perfectly with our mission and values.”
The statement concluded with words of appreciation: “We sincerely thank IU, her agency, and all customs personnel involved. We ask for strong public support for this new partnership between IU and Incheon Airport Customs.”
Expressing her excitement, IU remarked, “I’ve traveled through Incheon Airport many times and often witnessed the dedication of customs officers. I’m truly happy and honored to be appointed as an ambassador.”
She also voiced her strong commitment to the role: “I will actively promote efforts to eliminate the illegal importation of drugs and other prohibited items. I’m determined to do my best.”
IU further pledged, “As an ambassador, I will do my utmost to facilitate better communication between the Incheon Airport Customs and the public. Thank you.” Her appearance was met with enthusiastic cheers from fans who gathered at the event.
Meanwhile, NewJeans officially concluded their promotional ambassador role with Incheon Airport Customs on July 15. The decision to end the partnership was made in mutual agreement, due in part to internal disputes within the group’s agency.
