Actor Ahn Jae Hyun has shared a rare glimpse into his feelings of loneliness following his widely publicized divorce from actress Goo Hye Sun.
On the July 4 episode of KBS 2TV’s 'Heart on Wheels,' the show continued its special feature inspired by 'Squid Game.' Cast members from the highly anticipated third season of the Netflix series, including Yang Dong Geun, Wi Ha Joon, and Park Gyu Young, joined the regular cast known as the "Jeong siblings," which includes Lee Min Jung, Boom, Ahn Jae Hyun, Kim Jung Hyun, and Kim Jae Won.
After enjoying dinner together, the cast returned to their accommodation for a heartfelt conversation. During the discussion, Ahn Jae Hyun opened up about the changes in his personal life after his divorce.
"Most of my friends are married now and have become fathers," he said. "I started feeling guilty about making spontaneous plans. Even when I have some time off on the weekends, my friends usually have to spend it with their families. It makes me think twice before reaching out. Lately, being alone has started to feel lonely."
Boom responded with encouragement, suggesting that they turn 'Heart on Wheels' into a project where Ahn could experience warmth again and heal from the past. He added, "I hope you can overcome the pain and even find joy in having a family someday." Although Ahn calmly replied, "There’s no more pain," the warm support and encouragement from those around him created a comforting and emotional moment.
Ahn Jae Hyun married actress Goo Hye Sun in 2016. Their separation began in 2019 and was finalized through legal mediation in 2020.
