CNBLUE’s Jung Yong Hwa has transformed into a vocal coach, offering exclusive singing tips on 1theK’s original series ‘Music Recipe’. His performance and insights captivated over 34 million global K-pop fans.
On the July 3 (KST) episode of ‘Music Recipe’, Jung Yong Hwa showcased how to sing his latest title track ‘Night Runner (Shooting Star)’ from his third solo mini-album ‘One Last Day’. Delivering a live rendition, he explained each vocal technique in detail, highlighting his deeper and more mature vocal tone.
“This song isn’t about using power. The key is to ride the rhythm,” he said, adding, “Every singer has their own style, but I personally like to use vibrato. In the highlight section, there's a jazzy feel—throw your voice when needed, and don’t hesitate to let go when it's right. Use staccato like a toss, and let vibrato linger like an echo. Other than those key points, strip everything else down.”

‘Music Recipe’ is a vocal lesson-style content series that invites artists to share how to sing their own songs best. Previous guests included Lee Chang Sub and project group Heo Yong Byeol, both of whom received positive responses from fans for their vocal insights.
Reflecting on the meaning behind his latest album, Jung Yong Hwa shared, “This release marks my 10th anniversary as a solo artist. The title track captures the final night beneath falling stars.” He then revealed a more personal side, stating, “I had knee surgery this year and spent time reflecting. If I stop performing or pursuing entertainment, don’t be sad. The time we shared will last forever. I hope those memories continue to shine.”
Park Ji Hye, producer of the show, explained the concept behind ‘Music Recipe’, saying, “This series aims to give global music fans access to tips they wouldn’t hear elsewhere. Jung Yong Hwa’s clear and engaging vocal coaching delivered a fresh and sincere appeal to fans around the world.”
