Actors Lee Jun Young & Lee Jun Hyuk steal the spotlight at the 'Blue Dragon Series Awards' with their hilarious name mixup incident

On July 18 KST, South Korea's most beloved drama stars attended the '4th Blue Dragon Series Awards' at Incheon Paradise City. 

While many drama fans celebrated the honorable achievements of their favorite series from the past year, one particularly comical incident between actors Lee Jun Young and Lee Jun Hyuk ended up stealing the spotlight. 

On this day, the hosts announced the winners of the 'UPbit Popularity Award', including Park Bo Gum, Lee Jun Hyuk, Lee Hyeri, and IU. 

However, due to the similar pronunciations between their names, actor Lee Jun Young mistakenly went up on stage to accept the award. 

Host Jun Hyun Moo then corrected, "Of course, Lee Jun Young is also a popular star, but today's winner is actor Lee Jun Hyuk. I apologize for my mispronunciation." 

Flustered, Lee Jun Young quickly went back to hand Lee Jun Hyuk the trophy. Lee Jun Hyuk then embraced the hoobae actor warmly, accepting the trophy.

Notably, during his acceptance speech, Lee Jun Hyuk remarked, "I always tell people that I'm a funny person, but they never believe me. I was hoping to crack a funny joke today, and luckily, something funny happened. Thank you, Jun Young." 

It turns out, the same incident occurred in reverse in 2023 during the 'Asia Artist Awards 2023'. 

During this incident, Lee Jun Young was awarded with the 'Best Acting Performance Award' for his role in the Netflix series 'Mask Girl'. However, due to the similarities in their name pronunciations, actor Lee Jun Hyuk was spotted heading toward the stage before he soon realized that he was not the winner. 

Meanwhile, Lee Jun Young also tugged at fans' heartstrings with his apologetic Instagram Story post later the evening as he wrote,

"Because I could not hear very well, I made an unimaginable mistake. I would like to take this opportunity to once again apologize to Lee Jun Hyuk sunbaenim and to his fans. Congratulations on your award!"

Lee Jun Hyuk then took note of Lee Jun Young's apology and shared on his own Story, 

"Jun Young, we all had a big laugh thanks to you. Don't worry about it. Remember I made the same mistake at AAA? It must be fate. Let's grab a meal some time." 

Lee Jun Young soon responded to Lee Jun Hyuk's warm message with, 

"I think I can go to sleep now because of hyung's generosity. I'll be in touch, hyung."
