Seohyun opened up about working alongside Taecyeon in the new KBS2 drama 'The First Night with the Duke.'
The press conference for 'The First Night with the Duke' was held on June 11 at The Saint Wedding Hall in D-Cube City, Sindorim, Seoul. The director and cast of the drama attended the event and shared their thoughts on the upcoming series.
Seohyun shared her thoughts on working with Taecyeon, saying, “We’ve seen each other often during our overlapping music careers, but we weren’t personally close.” She continued, “However, having shared the same stage for so long, we immediately felt a sense of internal familiarity, camaraderie, and even a kind of kinship when we met again.”
She added, “From the beginning, we were able to talk openly and enthusiastically about the project. That honesty carried over to the set, and exchanging opinions freely helped create great synergy during filming.”
Taecyeon echoed her sentiments, saying, “Like Seohyun mentioned, we also had that internal sense of closeness and teamwork.” He admitted, “Although we were active in the idol world at the same time, we didn’t have a chance to become friends. I’m really happy that we got closer through this project.” He also noted, “Working with Seohyun made it easy to rely on each other, and that comfort allowed us to fully commit to our acting.”
Meanwhile, 'The First Night with the Duke' is one of the network's most ambitious summer dramas this year, already garnering much buzz thanks to its intriguing plot premise and star-studded cast. Even before its premiere, fans have expressed great enthusiasm since Seohyun and Taecyeon's casting was announced.
'The First Night with the Duke' is a romantic fantasy sageuk drama that tells the story of an ordinary college student who is transported into the world of a historical novel. Except, she inhabits the body of a supporting character and ends up spending a night with the most powerful male lead in the universe.
With its blend of fantasy and romance, the show is expected to offer viewers a refreshing and novel experience. The strong chemistry between the actors is also anticipated to elevate the overall quality of the drama.
The drama premieres on June 11 at 9:50 PM KST and will air every Wednesday and Thursday night.
