The new action comedy K-drama 'Good Boy', starring Park Bo Gum, is quickly gaining global success.
With its first episode airing on May 31, 'Good Boy' is an ongoing drama following the story of former Olympic medalists who have been recruited into working as police officers. Together, the Olympic champions investigate violent crimes and utilize their athletic skills to bring justice to their community. The show stars Park Bo Gum, Kim So Hyun, Oh Jung Se, Lee Sang Yi, Heo Sung Tae, and Tae Won Seok.
While 'Good Boy' quickly gained popularity in South Korea, recent statistics show that it has also exploded in popularity across the globe. As of June 13, 'Good Boy' was ranked at the number 4 spot on Amazon Prime's 'Global Top TV Shows' list. Since its first episode, the show has consistently ranked on the global chart, indicating strong potential for long-term success.
'Good Boy' is also ranked first in popularity in multiple countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand. The show makes the top 10 list in many more countries, such as Canada, Australia, France, and Greece.
Though 'Good Boy' was only released on Netflix in Korea, it still entered the 'Global Top 10 Non-English Language Series' chart, solely from the amount of views from Korea. It is very unusual for a show released only in one country to enter this chart. 'Good Boy' surpassed 3.9 million viewers during the aggregation period from June 2 to June 8.
The show has achieved meteoric levels of success domestically, topping the charts in Korea. Since its first broadcast, it has achieved consistently high ratings across Tving, Coupang Play, Wave, and Disney+. It has maintained a viewership rating of 5%, which is expected to rise further as new episodes continue to air. The show is currently on episode 5 of 16, with the next episode airing on June 15.
