Kim Sook met Fu Bao in China.
On June 9, a video titled “Latest update on Fu Bao: A close encounter in Chengdu, China” was uploaded to the ‘Kim Sook TV’ channel.
Kim Sook accompanied Chef Jung Ji Sun on a staff training trip to his restaurant’s branch in China. On the morning of their second day, Kim Sook said, “There’s someone you absolutely have to see when you’re in Sichuan,” revealing her plan to visit Fu Bao.
Showing off a backpack gifted by Joo Woo Jae and other belongings, Kim made her way deep into the mountains to the Shenshuping Base of the Wolong China Giant Panda Research Center. Although she arrived after a long walk and met Fu Bao, the panda was sleeping with her face covered, so Kim couldn’t see her properly.
While waiting for Fu Bao to wake up, Kim talked with Korean tourists who shared detailed information about the panda, including that Fu Bao’s mother, Ai Bao, has a twin sister. Watching other pandas in the meantime, Kim expressed her delight, saying, “She really is adorable.”
When Fu Bao finally began to move, crowds of visitors gathered at the viewing area. Though she only showed her face briefly before turning away again—despite past health rumors—Kim was still happy to receive Fu Bao-themed gifts from Korean fans.
One visitor shared a touching story about how they came to love Fu Bao: “My mother was very ill and going through cancer treatment alone. One day, Fu Bao appeared on TV, and my mom smiled so much watching her. Not long after, my mom passed away.” Upon hearing this, Kim gently offered comfort, saying, “May I give you a hug?” and embraced the visitor warmly.
