On June 9, a new episode of the YouTube series zzanbro titled "So Ji Sub, Ok Taecyeon zzanbro EP. 96: The Return of Cha Moo Hyuk! So Ganji’s Legendary Class" was released. The episode drew emotional reactions from viewers as actor So Ji Sub became visibly emotional during the show.
So Ji Sub shed tears while expressing support for the wife of a close friend who is currently battling a serious illness. His heartfelt message moved both the audience and the show’s hosts.
Co-host Shin Dong Yup offered more context. He said that although he may not fully understand how So Ji Sub feels, he admires him deeply. He explained that Song Seung Hun has a friend who is a Korean Air pilot whose wife is very ill, despite being young. According to Shin Dong Yup, So Ji Sub, Song Seung Hun, and Lee Byung Hun have all been continuously offering encouragement and care to the couple.
Shin Dong Yup added that So Ji Sub had told him the woman had been watching zzanbro from episode one and wanted to cheer her on. So Ji Sub asked if it would be okay to say a few words for her on the show.
So Ji Sub turned to the camera and quietly said, “Please stay strong.” Overcome with emotion, he then began to cry.
Shin Dong Yup comforted him, saying it was alright to share such a heartfelt message, especially since they were filming for YouTube and not on a traditional broadcast.
So Ji Sub later explained that a close friend had reached out and told him that his wife’s condition was worsening. He asked if So Ji Sub could say something to lift her spirits. So Ji Sub said he did not know whether the moment would be included in the final edit but still wanted to send a message of encouragement.
This rare emotional moment from So Ji Sub offered a glimpse into his genuine compassion and deeply moved the viewers.
