Actor Kim Soo Hyun has taken legal action regarding false allegations involving the late actress Kim Sae Ron.
On June 30, the Seoul Metropolitan Police announced during a regular press briefing that they had completed a preliminary investigation with Kim’s legal representative on June 18.
The complaint involves Kim Se Ui, head of the controversial YouTube channel 'Garo Sero Institute' (also known as “Gaseyeon”), who released an alleged voice recording of Kim Sae Ron shortly before her death. In May, the channel claimed the actress had confessed details about her past relationship with Kim Soo Hyun in the clip.
Kim’s side insists the audio was fabricated using AI voice cloning technology and argues that false claims were deliberately spread. They filed defamation and false accusation charges against both Kim Se Ui and the late actress’s family.
“Using forged evidence to pursue criminal charges is a far more serious crime,” Kim’s legal team said in a statement. “We are committed to ensuring all involved parties are held accountable according to the law.”
Police are continuing their investigation into the alleged fabrication and are currently coordinating a questioning schedule for Kim Se Ui.
