BigHit Music has issued an official statement addressing malicious acts against BTS members, including a recent attempted home intrusion targeting Jungkook.
On June 30, the agency revealed that a police investigation is underway after a woman attempted to break into Jungkook’s residence on June 11, the day of his military discharge. She was caught entering the password at his front door and was arrested on the spot.
BigHit stated it is cooperating fully with police and has submitted CCTV footage to ensure the intruder faces appropriate criminal punishment.
The company also confirmed it continues to take strong legal action against defamatory posts, false information, sexual harassment, and personal attacks targeting BTS across online communities and social media platforms. BigHit emphasized that several cases have already led to fines and that additional lawsuits are ongoing.
“We report stalkers immediately to police and file restraining orders,” the agency said. “There will be no leniency for any acts that violate the artists’ privacy and safety.”
BigHit encouraged fans to continue reporting such incidents through the HYBE Artist Rights Protection platform to assist in legal efforts.
Here is BigHit Music's Official Statement
Hello,
This is BigHit Music.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the warm support you always show toward BTS.
Our company is consistently and firmly taking legal action against malicious activities such as defamation, the spread of false information, sexual harassment, and insults carried out online, in order to protect the rights and interests of BTS and to ensure that they can carry out their activities in a stable environment.
This quarter, with the help of valuable reports from fans, we have continued to monitor domestic online communities (including Naver, Daum, Nate, Theqoo, DC Inside’s BTS and male celebrity galleries, Instiz, Ilgan Best, FM Korea, Women’s Era, Ppomppu, SoulDresser, and others), music platforms (Melon, Bugs Music, Genie Music, etc.), and global SNS channels (X, Instagram, YouTube, etc.). Through this monitoring, we have collected evidence and filed complaints against individuals responsible for confirmed malicious posts in various communities.
Some of the complaints filed in the third quarter of 2024 have already resulted in fines, and other cases are also proceeding toward favorable outcomes. We will continue to respond with responsibility and determination until all matters are resolved.
Additionally, a police investigation is currently underway regarding a recent attempted trespassing incident at a BTS member’s residence. We are actively cooperating with the authorities by submitting evidence—including CCTV footage—to ensure that the intruder receives appropriate criminal punishment.
We are also immediately reporting stalking behavior toward BTS members to the police so that offenders can be apprehended on the spot. Alongside this, we are filing restraining orders as needed. We are taking a zero-tolerance approach to any actions that threaten the artists’ privacy and safety.
Now that BTS has returned to their fans after faithfully fulfilling their national defense duties, we are reinforcing our response efforts even further to ensure that they do not suffer harm from malicious rumors or defamatory remarks.
Acts such as spreading groundless rumors, defamation, sexual harassment, and invasion of privacy are clearly illegal. We will respond to such actions without compromise. Your reports play a crucial role in our legal response.
If you discover any suspected cases of rights infringement against BTS—such as malicious posts or IP violations—please report them through the HYBE Artist Rights Protection Report website (protect.hybecorp.com). For more effective legal processing, we recommend submitting full-screen PC captures or PDF files rather than mobile screenshots. Please ensure that important details such as URLs, usernames, post content, and capture dates are clearly visible.
We are always grateful for your interest and support for BTS, and BigHit Music will continue to do our utmost to protect the rights and interests of the artists.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
BigHit Music
