Jessi is making an unexpected return to the music scene, just eight months after facing criticism for allegedly walking away from an incident where a fan was assaulted.
On June 23, Jessi shared a teaser video on her official social media channels. The video features a vintage television screen with a breaking news alert reading ‘JESSI 2025.06.27’, suggesting that her comeback is set for June 27.
The teaser marks her first release since a controversy in October 2024. At the time, in Apgujeong, Gangnam District, Seoul, a minor fan reportedly approached Jessi to request a photo. One of Jessi’s acquaintances suddenly attacked the fan. Jessi briefly intervened but then left the scene.
The victim later filed a police report against four individuals present, including the alleged assailant and Jessi. Jessi was questioned on charges of intimidation and aiding a suspect, but police ultimately dropped the case, citing insufficient evidence.
Following the incident, Jessi terminated her contract with DOD and suspended her activities. Although she eventually issued a public apology, the response from the general public remained largely negative. Since then, she has been focusing on activities abroad.
Despite the controversy, many fans have welcomed news of her return. Comments on social media include messages like “The queen is back” and “We’ve missed you.”
