fromis_9 is making a fresh comeback as a five-member group with their sixth mini album ‘From Our 20’s’, set to release on June 25 at 6 PM KST.
This album marks their first comeback since reorganizing as a quintet, yet the group continues to deliver their trademark bright and refreshing sound—now with added pop sensibilities. The six-track album reflects the honest emotions and personal moments the members have faced in their twenties.
The title track ‘LIKE YOU BETTER’ blends breezy synths, upbeat guitar rhythms, and an explosive chorus to capture the essence of summer romance. The lyrics explore various perspectives on love, aiming to offer fans—known as flover—a sense of excitement and warmth.
Among the B-sides, ‘REBELUTIONAL’ stands out as a bold anthem about facing cold realities with confidence. It symbolizes an inner revolution and the journey of becoming one’s true self. ‘Love=Disaster’ channels a high-teen punk rock vibe, fusing powerful vocals with intense instrumentals.
Member Park Ji Won contributed to the writing and composition of ‘Strawberry Mimosa’, a dreamy track comparing the thrill of falling in love to the fizz of a cocktail. ‘Twisted Love’, written and composed by Song Ha Young, explores the paradox of painful yet lingering love, expressed through an emotionally charged chorus. The album closes with ‘Merry Go Round’, a hopeful song featuring warm brass sounds and lyrics about staying together through life’s ups and downs.
Originally formed as a nine-member group through Mnet’s 2017 survival program ‘Idol School’, fromis_9 gained momentum after joining Pledis Entertainment under HYBE Labels in August 2021. The group was later reorganized into eight members following Jang Gyu Ri’s departure in 2022 to pursue acting.
They went on to release hits like ‘Talk & Talk’, ‘DM’, ‘Stay This Way’, and ‘#menow’. In particular, ‘#menow’, released in August 2023, entered the top 10 on Melon’s Top 100 chart and continues to rank highly across Korean streaming platforms. The track was also selected by Billboard, PopMatters, NME, and Dazed as one of the best K-pop songs of 2024.
After their exclusive contracts with Pledis ended on December 31, 2024, members Lee Sae Rom, Lee Seo Yeon, and Roh Ji Sun chose to part ways with the group. The remaining five members—Lee Na Gyung, Lee Chae Young, Park Ji Won, Baek Ji Heon, and Song Ha Young—signed with new agency ASCEND and began preparing for their comeback.
fromis_9 will perform ‘LIKE YOU BETTER’ for the first time on Mnet’s ‘M Countdown’ on June 26 and will promote the album through various music programs. In addition, the group will kick off their world tour ‘NOW TOMORROW.’ with a two-day concert at Jangchung Arena in Seoul on August 9–10.
