WJSN's Dayoung made a post appearing to criticize Starship Entertainment, then deleted it shortly afterward.
Recently, WJSN (Cosmic Girls)'s Dayoung uploaded an Instagram Story featuring a screenshot of Starship Entertainment’s official account, which showed birthday celebration posts for various artists. The most recent post celebrated KiiiKiii member Jiyu’s birthday on May 14—a date that also happens to be Dayoung’s birthday.
However, Starship Entertainment only posted a birthday message for Jiyu, not for Dayoung, giving the impression that the company deliberately 'skipped' acknowledging the WJSN member’s birthday. In the Story, Dayoung included a Korean consonant that mimics a scoffing or sarcastic laugh, signaling her disapproval or frustration over the omission.

According to fans, a similar incident occurred in January, when WJSN's Yeoreum did not receive a birthday post from the company on January 10.
Fans have also pointed out that it has been "over 1000 days" since WJSN last promoted as a group. Their most recent release was a special single in July 2022, with their last mini album dating back to March 2021.
Alongside the screenshot of Starship’s feed, Dayoung also shared another Story featuring a hamster character parodying 'Squid Game,' paired with the four-character idiom "To Sa Goo Paeng."
This military-origin phrase is a metaphor meaning "cherishing something when it's needed but discarding it when it's no longer useful."

As of now, both of Dayoung’s Stories have been deleted.
Netizens on online forums have expressed their empathy for the WJSN member, leaving comments such as:
"That's insane. It's the same birthday, but they celebrate one and not the other?"
"How can a company just pass over the birthday of one of their own artists???"
"Is making a birthday post really that hard?"
"That would seriously hurt your feelings and piss you off. So annoying."
"I mean, even if an idol's contract expires on May 14 but if it's their birthday, the company should still post a birthday message."
"Starship only got lucky by hitting the jackpot with Jang Wonyoung, and now they act like they're all that."
"They celebrated Kiiikiii but not WJSN...."
"Why be so petty over a birthday????"
"That's just too much."
"If WJSN renewed their contract in 2023, of course it's upsetting."
"WJSN has so many great songs, I never thought their hiatus would last 3 years... That's insane."
"Yeah, I'd be upset too."
"Starship only pushes when they feel like it, and when they don’t care, it's painfully obvious. Forget consistency, it's clear where all their attention is going right now."
"As a Boyfriend fan, this is giving me PTSD for real ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ"
"Why is the company like this?"
