Actor Um Tae Goo is taking on a new challenge as a variety show MC for the very first time in his career.

According to industry insiders on May 21st, Um has been selected as the host of the upcoming YouTube web variety show 'Simple Labor: Workman Side Story'. The show is a spin-off of the popular channel 'Workman', which has over 4.17 million subscribers. It will feature Um performing hands-on jobs while engaging in conversations with guests.

Known for his reserved and intense screen presence, Um Tae Goo has rarely appeared on variety shows and has previously gone viral for his nervousness, once even revealing a heart rate of 150 bpm during a fan meeting. His past appearances on talk shows like 'You Quiz on the Block' have shown him visibly tense in front of the camera, making this new hosting gig even more intriguing for fans.

Having built a strong acting résumé through films like 'The Age of Shadows' and 'A Taxi Driver', and dramas like 'Lighting Store' and 'The Woman Who Plays', Um recently showed off his softer side in romantic comedy roles. Viewers are now curious to see what kind of personality he will reveal through unscripted variety content.
