NewJeans' Hanni logged onto Instagram Live to spend quality time with fans. She surprised fans with an impromptu Instagram Live session, where she performed acoustic covers and expressed heartfelt gratitude to her supporters.
During the live broadcast on May 5, Hanni shared that she had read all the letters sent by fans, affectionately known as "Bunnies," and was moved by their messages. She mentioned that many fans had requested to see her play the guitar again, prompting her to go live and fulfill their wishes. Clips from the session, including her rendition of Sabrina Carpenter's "Opposite," quickly circulated on social media platforms.'
Fans expressed support and also shared messages stating they miss the group. Many fans also expressed concerns about the live streaming since NewJeans aren't permitted to act independently from the label. They commented:
"Please come back."
"Is she allowed to stream live like this?"
"I loved their music... It's so unfortunate."
"Hanni still sings so well."
"I miss them all."
"Her voice is still beautiful."
"I wish the legal battle ends and they can be active again."
"I hope they change their mind and return to HYBE."
"We're still waiting for them."
Meanwhile, this live session occurred amid a significant ongoing legal battle. In November 2024, NewJeans announced their departure from ADOR, citing mistreatment and a breakdown of trust. They rebranded as NJZ and planned independent activities. However, in March 2025, a South Korean court granted ADOR's request for an injunction, ordering the group to halt all independent activities and reaffirming ADOR's role as their exclusive management agency. NewJeans immediately filed for an appeal, but the court upheld the decision.
