On May 14, the teaser trailer for 'Shinmyeong,' Korea’s first-ever occult political thriller, was recently released and is already generating intense buzz across online platforms. Starring veteran actress Kim Gyu Ri as the mysterious Yoon Ji Hee, the film blends political drama with supernatural horror in a bold and unprecedented concept.

Produced by independent media outlet Openmind TV, 'Shinmyeong' draws inspiration from former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and his wife Kim Keon Hee. The film reinterprets real-life political controversies through a dark, symbolic lens, exploring themes of power, secrecy, and spiritual disturbance.

The teaser opens with the haunting message: “December 3, 2024. On that day, the hidden truth will be revealed.” From the first frame, the tone is heavy with tension. 

Kim Gyu Ri’s solemn face slowly emerges, her presence alone dominating the screen. The phrases “The night when even God and Evil remained silent” and “Everything began with her” appear, heightening the mystery and suggesting that Yoon Ji Hee is at the center of a terrifying conspiracy.

The final moments of the teaser feature a spine-chilling woman’s laugh. This disturbing sound hints at the occult elements in the story and the descent into madness awaiting both the characters and the audience.
