KISS OF LIFE member Julie has now issued the group's third apology for their 'hiphop-themed' birthday video controversy.
During a recent livestream, Julie took the opportunity to discuss the controversy in more detail and apologize once again for any harm the group's actions caused. She explained that KISS OF LIFE had spent the last 2 months reflecting on their actions and how they could learn and do better in the future. She stated that the group is educating themselves in order to prevent an incident like this from happening again.
In response to the requests of many fans over the past 2 months, Julie also made a point to address the specific communities affected by the controversy: "I want to take the time to use this opportunity to apologize to the Black and Latino communities. We do understand that we've hurt and disappointed a lot of the fans... We promise that we're working hard to be better."
This marks the third apology KISS OF LIFE has issued for their recent cultural appropriation controversy. On April 2, the group held a ‘hip-hop themed’ livestream that resulted in severe backlash for incorporating offensive racial stereotypes. KISS OF LIFE’s company S2 Entertainment deleted the livestream and posted an official apology shortly after, with the members themselves then posting a second, handwritten apology following that. However, many fans were not satisfied, with some demanding a more specific apology and others pledging to boycott the group's upcoming comeback.
