On the evening of May 23 KST, the 4 major party candidates of South Korea's 21st presidential election took part in the latest presidential debate, aired live via all major broadcasting networks.
On this day, the 4 candidates including Lee Jae Myung of the Democratic Party of Korea, Kim Moon Soo of the People Power Party, Lee Jun Seok of the Reform Party, and Kwon Young Gook of the Korean Democratic Labor Party took turns discussing their positions and pledges on issues such as health care and pension for a future super-aged society, action on climate change, etc.
The presidential debate was also aired live on YouTube via all major news coverage channels, including KBS News. Many netizens tuned into the debate via YouTube, leaving their thoughts on the candidates through the live comments.
Then, some time during the debate, netizens spotted the official Youtube channel KBS WORLD Arabic leaving the comment, "Moon Soo is doing well today."
The issue quickly drew heavy criticism from onlookers, as many frowned KBS, a broadcasting station operated by the South Korean government, expressing explicit support for a specific presidential candidate.
KBS WORLD Arabic soon went on to write, "The comment uploaded by KBS WORLD Arabic during the presidential debate on May 23 KST was not composed by an affiliate of KBS. It is believed that the account was stolen, and we are currently investigating the situation. Please refrain from directing improper comments toward KBS WORLD Arabic."
However, some time later, netizens noted that the channel, KBS WORLD Arabic, was deleted from YouTube entirely, raising suspicions that the channel was in fact, not "stolen" by anyone attempting to pose as an affiliate of KBS.

Meanwhile, South Korea's 21st presidential election is currently under way with overseas residents currently casting their votes since May 20 KST. Domestically, preliminary voting will take place from May 29-30. The official election day is June 3 KST, designated a federal holiday.
