Singer-turned-artist Solbi revealed the emotional story behind how she started painting, during her appearance on Channel A’s 'Table for 4', which aired on April 21st. Joined by friends Lee Min Woo, Brian, and Kwon Hyuk Soo, the episode explored Solbi’s personal journey from pain to healing through art.

“I never imagined I would become a painter,” Solbi confessed, before reflecting on the difficult times she faced in the past. Around 2008, during the height of her entertainment career, Solbi said she was overwhelmed by a slump, worsened by relentless cyberbullying. In 2009, she was also the target of a damaging fake adult video rumor.

“On top of that, I was going through personal turmoil,” she continued. “I had to care for my sick mother, repay my father’s debts, and at one point, a burglar broke into my home causing around 200 million KRW in losses.” Solbi admitted the series of events left her questioning her worth: “I wondered if I was someone the world even needed anymore.”

In a moment of despair, she climbed Mount Jiri alone for 13 hours, contemplating her life. “I cried, rested, and climbed. When I finally reached the summit, I looked around and heard a voice say, ‘Use your talents to help those who are suffering.’” That moment, she said, changed her perspective entirely.
Describing it as a rebirth, Solbi began painting and found new purpose. “After I started painting, I learned to love myself more. Rather than craving attention or approval, I now feel like I’m truly living my own life. And that alone gives my life meaning.”
