NO:EL’s agency, Indigo Music, has issued a public request for restraint from malicious comments following the death of the rapper’s father, former lawmaker Jang Je Won.
On April 1st KST, the agency stated, “Currently, there are excessive and indiscriminate comments being made about NO:EL’s private life. We believe it is necessary to protect the artist.” It further announced that all content related to NO:EL, including music releases and performance updates, will be temporarily managed solely by the company during this period.
They emphasized, “We ask everyone to refrain from leaving inappropriate or harmful comments about the artist.”
NO:EL recently lost his father, Jang Je Won, who was found deceased on March 31st in a Seoul officetel. A note presumed to be a suicide letter was found at the scene, reportedly expressing apologies to his family. Police have found no signs of foul play and are continuing to investigate the cause of death.
Jang was under police investigation for sexual assault charges stemming from an incident in 2015. While he denied all allegations, the accuser, A, had publicly disclosed a video believed to show key evidence. A press conference scheduled for April 1st was canceled following Jang’s sudden passing, and the case is now expected to close due to his death.
NO:EL addressed fans through an open chatroom on the same day, saying, “Of course I’m not okay, but please don’t worry too much. I’ll see him off properly. Thankfully, I’ve been through a lot at a young age, so I won’t break down over others’ reactions.”
