SM Entertainment's ambitious 30th anniversary celebration project, a global tour of the 'SMTOWN LIVE' concert series, will be stopping in Mexico City for the first time in history on May 9 local time. However, the event is currently facing challenges with low ticket sales.

Despite the fact that the show is only 2 weeks away, more than half of the seats at Estadio GNP Seguros (capacity: ~ 60,000) remain unsold. 

Although to a smaller degree, 'SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in LA', scheduled for 2 days later on May 11 local time, is facing similar challenges, with just a little over 50% of the seats at Dignity Health Sports Park (capacity: ~ 27,000) currently sold. 

Seeing the unfilled blue dots on the ticket sales page, K-netizens reacted with comments like,

"That's shocking... and Mexico is definitely a K-Pop hotspot."

"Wow... Just cancel it."

"The tickets were way too overpriced."

"Wait the blue dots aren't the sold seats, they're the ones still available??"

"And they made such a big deal of it being an 'SMTOWN' world tour.. how embarrassing."

"Of course the fans won't want to go see a show if their favorite idol is only performing 2 or 3 songs."

"They really thought they could fill up that massive stadium lol."

"SM overshot. They should've booked a decently sized arena, not a stadium."

"Are they even gonna make a profit from this.. I feel bad for the artists who have to perform in front of a half empty crowd."

"Didn't aespa perform at a huge venue in Mexico not that long ago???"

"International fans aren't interested in SM's history or legacy or whatever.. Just keep 'SMTOWN' as an online thing and book more solo shows for your artists."

"Okay SM, it's about time you started handing out those free tickets to fill up all the empty seats lol."

Meanwhile, the lineup for 'SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in Mexico City' includes: TVXQ, Super Junior, Key and Minho of SHINee, Suho and Chanyeol of EXO, Red Velvet (Irene, Seulgi, Joy), NCT 127, NCT DREAM, WayV, aespa, RIIZE, NCT WISH, naevis, Hearts2Hearts, and SMTR25. The lineup for 'SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in LA' features one additional act, Kai of EXO.
