DAY6's Young K, known for his hearty appetite, has become the new face of Subway.
On April 22, Subway released a teaser video on its official Instagram and other platforms. In the video, Young K is seen wearing wired earphones and a green cardigan - Subway’s signature color - draped over his shoulders, staring into the camera. Suddenly, the word “턱!” (a Korean onomatopoeia for a sudden drop or thud) appears in bold yellow letters falling from the sky, and Young K is shown reacting with surprise.
At the end of the video, Subway’s signature sound captivates viewers’ ears. The tune is identical to the signature sound Young K showcased in the "KickFlip JYP Debut Masterclass I EP.1 Young K" video posted on January 27 via the KickFlip official channel.
Netizens who saw the ad responded enthusiastically, saying things like, “Subway has great taste,” “Truly the best model,” “So cute,” “Now it’s Subway three meals a day,” “Young K and Subway are the perfect match,” “Love the change in signature sound,” “The ad team must’ve studied Young K a lot,” “The signature sound is stuck in my head,” and “I love you, Subway.”
Meanwhile, DAY6 recently topped music charts with their hit song “You Were Beautiful,” which resurfaced years after its release, marking a major comeback nearly 10 years after their debut. Their rising popularity has led to numerous advertising deals. In a recent magazine interview, the members also expressed their love for fans.
Leader Sungjin said, “I believe no flower blooms without hardship. The timing of the bloom may differ, but as long as hope remains, anyone can reach the life they aspire to. That was true for us too.”
Young K added, “The essence of DAY6’s music is time. Rather than rushing toward a specific point, we’ve flowed along with time. What we’ve created is the result of every member, our supporters, and each and every My Day (our fans).”
DAY6 is currently on their 'FOREVER YOUNG' world tour, performing 45 shows across 23 cities worldwide. They’ll be in Yokohama on April 26–27, followed by Jakarta on May 3, and will wrap up with shows at the KSPO DOME in Olympic Park, Seoul, on May 9–11 and 16–18.
