IU has stepped up to aid wildfire victims.
On March 26, the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association (Chairman Song Pil Ho) announced that IU (Lee Ji Eun) donated a total of 200 million KRW (~136,248 USD). She donated 100 million KRW (~68,124 USD) each to support the victims and the firefighters aiding the disaster. The donations will be used for wildfire relief efforts and to improve the working conditions and public perception of firefighters dedicated to disaster response.
IU stated, "I hope this can provide even a small amount of help to those affected, and I extend my deepest condolences to the victims. I sincerely wish for the wildfire to be contained as soon as possible without further casualties." She also expressed her gratitude, saying, "I deeply appreciate the dedication of the firefighters working tirelessly to control the fire."
IU has consistently demonstrated her positive influence by making donations during various disasters, including flood relief efforts in 2020 and the East Coast wildfire relief in 2022.
Hope Bridge Secretary-General Shin Hoon remarked, "IU’s donation reflects her deep solidarity with those in need and gratitude for those who work behind the scenes. We will do our utmost to ensure her generous contribution reaches the affected communities and frontline responders."
Founded in 1961 by media outlets and social organizations, the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association specializes in disaster relief fundraising. Its key activities include emergency disaster response, fundraising and distribution of public donations, post-disaster community recovery, and support for vulnerable populations. To date, the organization has provided 1.6 trillion KRW (~1.09 billion USD) in donations and over 60 million relief supplies.
