Taiwanese actor Barbie Hsu, who passed away due to pneumonia complications, reportedly left her inheritance equally divided between her husband, DJ Koo (Koo Jun Yup), and her two children.
According to Taiwanese local media China Times on March 3, Barbie Hsu’s estate was equally divided by one-thirds and given to Koo Jun Yup and her two children based on local inheritance laws.
However, since the children are minors, their biological father and Barbie Hsu’s ex-husband, Wang Xiaofei, will manage their finances until they reach adulthood. Wang Xiaofei has also been granted custody of the children.
Local media reported that "Barbie Hsu’s mother and Wang Xiaofei reached an amicable agreement in accordance with the law."
Earlier, Koo Jun Yup stated on his Instagram, "The precious inheritance that Barbie left behind was something she worked hard to accumulate to protect her beloved family. Therefore, I intend to give up my rights to it and entrust everything to my mother-in-law."
Chinese-language media outlets estimated Barbie Hsu’s estate to be worth approximately 600 million yuan (about 82.4 million USD). One-third of the estimated estate would be around 27.5 million USD.
Barbie Hsu gained fame in 2001 for her role as Shan Cai in Meteor Garden, the Taiwanese adaptation of 'Boys Over Flowers.' After divorcing Wang Xiaofei, she rekindled her romance with her former lover from 20 years ago, Koo Jun Yup, and they married in March 2022. However, she tragically passed away on February 2 due to pneumonia complications following the flu.
