ADOR is planning to dispatch its staff to support NJZ (NewJeans) at their upcoming concert in Hong Kong, despite an ongoing legal dispute over the group's management and activities.
On March 21, the Seoul Central District Court's 60th Civil Division, presided over by Judge Kim Sang Hoon, ruled in favor of ADOR's request for an injunction to preserve its status as NJZ (NewJeans)' agency and to prohibit the group from entering into independent advertising contracts.
NJZ (NewJeans) is scheduled to perform at 'ComplexCon' in Hong Kong on March 23. The 'ComplexCon' organizers had previously announced through their official social media channels that NJZ (NewJeans) would headline the event, and tickets for the performance have already sold out.
Following the court’s ruling in favor of ADOR’s injunction, there was speculation that NJZ (NewJeans)’ Hong Kong appearance might be canceled. However, ADOR plans to support NJZ (NewJeans)’ performance by sending staff to the event. ADOR also intends to request that the event organizers list the group’s name as NewJeans rather than NJZ.
NJZ (NewJeans) notified ADOR on November 29, 2024, at midnight that they were terminating their exclusive contract with the company. However, with the court’s decision to grant the injunction, NJZ (NewJeans)' independent activities — including music releases and advertising contracts — are now effectively restricted.
In its ruling, the court preserved ADOR’s status as an NJZ (NewJeans)’ agency and prohibited the group from conducting independent musical or commercial activities without ADOR’s involvement. Despite the legal complications, ADOR’s plan to support the NJZ (NewJeans)’ Hong Kong concert indicates an effort to maintain stability for the group’s public activities. The outcome of the broader legal battle between ADOR and NJZ (NewJeans) remains to be seen.
