BLACKPINK's Lisa faced criticism for her seemingly unengaged lip-sync performance at the Global Citizen Festival, a large-scale charity event held in Central Park, New York, on September 29th (KST).
Lisa performed as one of the headliners alongside world-renowned artists like Post Malone and Doja Cat. She showcased her first solo festival stage with performances of ROCKSTAR, NEW WOMAN, Lalisa, and Money.
Notably, she debuted her unreleased digital single Moonlit Floor, which garnered significant attention. According to Lisa's team, the song is set to be released on October 4th and samples Sixpence None the Richer's hit Kiss Me.
Although the visuals and stage production were extravagant, her vocal performance failed to generate much enthusiasm. Despite the festival's interactive nature, Lisa relied heavily on pre-recorded tracks, only singing in certain parts of the performance, leading to disappointment among the audience.
K-pop fans who saw the performance video expressed their frustration, with comments like, "Why lip-sync when there’s no choreography?", "She seems to lack the ability to perform solo,", "Her lip movements don’t match the lyrics," and "The performance seemed half-hearted."
Earlier this month, Lisa made history by winning the Best K-pop award at the MTV Video Music Awards for her song ROCKSTAR, becoming the first K-pop solo artist to achieve this.
In addition, Lisa has been cast in HBO’s original series 'The White Lotus' for its third season, marking her official acting debut.
